The Step up model from the VPL-VW270ES, the Sony VPL-VW590Es features Sony's new "X1 for projector" processor

The new X1 for projector processor takes the superb BRAVIA TV video processor and optiises it for projector use combining dynamic HDR enhancer and super resolution technologies. The dynamic HDR combines signal analysis, advanced signal processing and high precision modulation by extending the dimming range of laser and iris to improve black levels. All of this delivers the best contrast and dynamic range with real time frame-by-frame basis. Put simply the bright areas become brighter, the dark areas become darker along with enhanced texture, colour and realsim for the best possible image reproduction matching as close to possible to the directors intent for the content.

The exclusive Super Resolution technology analyses images down to a pixel by pixel level. It uses powerful pattern matching algorithms developed over years of Sony's movie production experience to enhance image crispness without introducing digital picture noise. It will also upscale 1080p Blu ray disc and standard DVD movies to near 4k quality.

In addition, the Digital Focus Optimizer (DFO) compensates for optical blurr that can occur at the corner of the projected images due the nature of the lens structure in projectors. The DFO compensation results in a uniformed 4K resolution across the entire image from centre to corner.
